Kingsport spans over two counties — Sullivan and Hawkins — with the majority of it found in Sullivan County, and is the the largest city in the Kingsport–Bristol–Bristol, TN–VA, Metropolitan Statistical Area, and also part of the “Tri-Cities” region, or in the “Mountain Empire” (spans a portion of southwest Virginia and a good part of northeastern Tennessee).

Fun fact: The name “Kingsport” comes from “King’s Port”, which was originally the area on the Holston River known as “King’s Boat Yard” (head of navigation for the Tennessee Valley).

You’d be missing out if you visit Kingsport without checking out the Planetarium, Lamplight Theater, Kingsport Speedway, the Putt Putt Center, the Aquatic Center, the Greenbelt, and Warrior’s Path State Park.

Cap of your nights at Hook and Ladder Distillery, Gypsy Circus Cider Brewery, or Bays Mountain Brewing Company!
